2023 Microforest Launch – Elizabeth, New Jersey

I helped successfully launch a kick-off event and organized the video production for a microforest project in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Microforests are small urban forests placed within environmentally challenged areas of cities to absorb carbon emissions, combat air pollution, and provide a host of additional benefits. New Jersey is perfect for these tiny forests, seeing that it is the nation’s most urbanized state. This microforest is one of four that will be made possible by a Groundwork USA Climate Preparedness Land Restoration Grant using the Miyawaki method developed in Japan as a guide.

Italian Immersion Study Abroad

I traveled to Genoa, Italy for a total of 7 weeks in summer 2011. After taking only 2 quarters/courses of beginning Italian, I joined the full immersion program, and took a pledge to only speak Italian during the 6 weeks of courses. It was incredibly challenging yet enriching, and I know I garnered the full experience of being in such an amazing country by agreeing to this challenge. My last week in Italy was spent traveling to Verona, Venice, and Milan with my roommates. I loved being able to explore on our own, especially after having grasped the language; I was even told by natives that I spoke very well.

Photo Blog in Italian

We documented our experiences in a photo blog (in addition to a written diary) as part of the study abroad program. It includes my personally taken pictures of food, cities, and the culture overall. Click here for the full blog and test your Italian!

A Door To Italy Blog

While I was there, I also served as a public relations intern at the school I attended, A Door to Italy. As part of the role, I created a bilingual blog to show potential students what it was like to be enrolled at the school. It documented the experiences of my classmates and incorporated their photos as well. Click here for the full blog and read in Italian or English!

Livestream Production & Video Editing

I have been behind-the-scenes as a livestream and pre-recorded video producer for Stateside Affairs and its clients. This includes coordinating the guest speakers, branding, developing the run of show, production, and postproduction of each program across a wide variety of topics. The Live with Stateside Affairs series that the team and I produced positively showcased our livestream offering to potential clients, which covered important topics including women’s entrepreneurship and COVID-19 vaccine information

The livestream I produced for the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth’s Jobs Plus program launch, which featured HUD officials, may be the only one of its kind ever produced by a housing authority in the nation, especially during a pandemic.

2021 Ribbon-Cutting Event – Plainfield, New Jersey

My event management and public relations efforts brought together stakeholders and community leaders, including Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Housing Authority of Plainfield’s Elmwood Square Apartments. I was honored to see the press release I wrote for HAP published on the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs website.

Stalking, Creeping, and Uncertainty Reduction: College Students’ Use of Facebook

This study examined two types of Facebook use: active and passive uncertainty reduction. Each form was further categorized by motivation: hedonistic, academic, or casual use. The study’s method included usability with a follow-up interview in individual sessions from a convenience sample. College students engage in both active and passive uncertainty reduction processes on Facebook and do so for hedonistic, academic, and casual purposes, with casual use being most commonly expressed. Although both active and passive processes are most often done for one motive, there is also evidence that users possess all three motives in one uncertainty reduction process, or when transitioning from one process to another. The study’s findings are likely to be present in other social media networks.

Gender Issues Under the Guerrilla Girls’ Lens

The Guerrilla Girls were tired of being oppressed by society and its corresponding negative views of women. In order to protest, they formed a group where every woman wore a gorilla mask to hide their identity, since anonymity is a powerful force. This is a clear instance of visual incongruity in the form of juxtaposition. The female body is portrayed as very elegant, beautiful, and voluptuous, whereas a gorilla is seen as primitive, barbarian-like, and unattractive. This paper analyzes the Guerrilla Girls’ tactics in various visual ads.

Commercializing Virtual Worlds Research Paper

Consumers’ Apathy Towards Participation in Online Virtual Worlds

In the world of virtual worlds, companies must constantly assess consumer satisfaction. With ever-developing technologies and tools, this environment is very fast-paced and users access worlds every day. When components of a virtual world are lacking, this deters user participation, and could lead to low return rates. Competition in this field continues to increase as well and marketers need to understand how to retain their user base. Such tactics must be implemented from the creation of a virtual world and throughout its lifespan. When user expectations are not met, they may discontinue use of a certain virtual world and move on to another. Up-to-date technology must be observed in order to keep up with the competition. Oftentimes, the reason for failure is due to new restrictions and features and users’ expectations not being met. That is why it is always a good practice to provide user assistance services to collect feedback. Following failures, corresponding improvements need to be acted upon. In this manner, consumer apathy can be reduced and new users can even be accrued.

Internet Marketing Research Paper

International Advertising Agencies – Industrial Audit

Generating the ideal customer experience in the international advertising industry is slightly more difficult than in other industries. With multi-level customers and cultures, it is also more difficult to achieve than local advertising agencies. However, through extensive research, the fundamentals of the basic customer experience concept have proven to be return on investment, loyalty, customer friendliness, and product value. In supplement to this breakdown, research in the international advertising field has exhibited concepts which enforce these main ideas in the journey to ideal customer experience. With emerging technologies, customer experience gains new factors with social media sites, online campaigns, and open blogs. Methods for organizations to measure customer experience are also discussed.
